Take Time to Explore Spring Lake Regional Park

Spring Lake Regional Park is one of the premier hidden gems near El Dorado Hotel & Kitchen, our beautiful Downtown Sonoma hotel. For an adventurous afternoon, make your way to the park and discover all that there is to do! Whether you’re with your family, friends, or significant other, there’s something to do for everybody. With beautifully shaded blue lakes, sandy beaches, picturesque greenery, and wooded hiking trails, you can make a whole afternoon out of your visit to Spring Lake Regional Park. So grab your swimsuit and your hiking boots, and get ready to enjoy the fresh air and outdoors (while taking some beautiful pictures, no doubt)!

What to Do at Spring Lake Regional Park

Spring Lake Regional Park offers a variety of different activities to make your afternoon memorable. Kids will love splashing around in the lake and hanging out on the beach. And maybe you and yours will enjoy a peaceful hike throughout the green trees. Bring food from a local Sonoma restaurant and utilize the picnic areas, but most importantly, relax and enjoy the natural beauty!

There are about 10 miles of trails that run through Spring Lake Regional Park, making it the perfect place to hike, bike, jog, or horseback ride. There are paved routes that bring you around the lake that also will connect you to Trione-Annadel State Park, as well as Howarth Park in Santa Rosa.

Swimming at the lagoon is temporarily closed due to COVID-19, but once it’s back open, it’s a great spot to hang out and cool off after a hike! Kids will love swimming in the lagoon and playing along the shoreline. Picnic areas are nearby, allowing you to indulge in some of Sonoma’s finest local food while still being able to enjoy the peacefulness of the park. Fishing is always an option when on Spring Lake, which gives the regional park its name.

Swimming isn’t the only way to spend time in Spring Lake! This 72-acre reservoir is open for boating and paddling. If you’re interested in paddling, head to the rental office right next to the swimming lagoon. Kayak and paddleboard rentals are available from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sunday throughout the summer.
